Easton Village Hall's pop-up curry café raised £1,436 to support the work of Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Gaza.
Organised by Easton Village Wildlife Group, the event was declared great fun by many of the 60 people who gathered to raise funds to support MSF's vital work.
Acknowledging the donation, Marie-Aure Perreaut Revial, MSF emergency coordinator for Gaza, said: 'Your gift is hugely appreciated and helps our teams provide medical care to some of the people who need it most.
'I can barely describe the destruction of healthcare I witnessed in Gaza. Hospitals and health centres have faced constant attacks, shelling and evacuation orders. They are critically short of clean water, electricity and essential medical supplies. Getting aid supplies into Gaza has been extremely difficult; what has been allowed in so far is negligible compared to people’s needs.'
MSF has lost 15 staff in Gaza, Palestine, and many more have been injured or lost family members, colleagues and homes. 'Yet, despite everything they have been through, healthcare workers in Gaza have continued to uphold the values of humanity in a time of great darkness,' said Marie-Aure Perreaut Revial.
'We remain committed to providing essential care to the people of Gaza, where humanitarian needs have risen to catastrophic levels. Your support is essential to MSF’s ability to respond in times of acute crisis.'
Easton Village Wildlife Group would like to thank everyone who supported the event so generously.
